A members’ room for the people who actually sign the invoices. Here is what is going into it — and what is staying out.
Owning a yacht is the only job in this industry with no colleagues. Captains have captains. Brokers have brokers. Crew have an entire dockside network that trades information faster than any listing site. Owners have a management company, an accountant, and whoever happened to be standing next to them at the last show.
The ZipYacht Owners Club is being built to fix that, and it is being built in the open. It is not open yet. When it is, it will hold three things.
Guides written from the invoice side
What a haul-out actually costs, and what makes the number move. What a management agreement is quietly asking you to accept. How a refit schedule slips, and the four points where the slipping usually starts. Written plainly, with no vendor sitting behind the advice.
Perks that are worth the paperwork
Yard slots, berth access, show credentials, trade rates. Only the ones we can stand behind — an owners’ club full of discounts nobody uses is a mailing list wearing a blazer.
Other owners
Quietly, and by introduction. Half of what an owner needs to know is already known by another owner two docks down, who has no particular reason to tell a stranger.
What it will not be
A lead list. Owner details are not sold, rented, or handed to the trade, and nobody gets a directory of who owns what. That is the point of a members’ room.
