Illuminated decorated yachts cruising Fort Lauderdale's Intracoastal at night during the Winterfest Boat Parade

The Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade is South Florida’s most dazzling holiday tradition, a glittering procession of decorated boats winding through the heart of Fort Lauderdale. Now in its 55th year, it draws hundreds of thousands of spectators to the water’s edge. It is a spectacle of lights, music, and Yachting Capital of the World pride you have to see in person.

When & where

December 12, 2026 in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The parade steps off at 6:00 p.m. from Stranahan House, with a non-motorized pre-show at 5:30 p.m. The route runs east down the New River, then north up the Intracoastal Waterway to Lake Santa Barbara in Pompano Beach — roughly 12 miles, taking about 2½ hours to pass any single viewing spot.

Why it matters

Winterfest is the crown jewel of South Florida’s parade season and a point of pride for the local marine community. For owners, entering a decorated boat is a bucket-list experience; for crew and charter operators, it is one of the biggest nights of the year on the water. Spectators can watch from parks, restaurants, private docks, and grandstands all along the route, making it a marquee event for the entire region.
